3M required a personalized and highly customized Sharepoint redesign for their diverse workforce of 121,000 employees globally.
I worked closely with client teams to ensure business goals and user goals were met.

The Challenge
With 121,000 employees across a diverse workforce, the access to current information and tools was all over the place. The client needs were to simplify navigation, improve search and enable users to personalize their views to easily find and save tools and resources needed to get do their job efficiently.
Customized tool bar for users to have quick access to all their daily tools.
Key Drivers
SEARCHABLE
A search tool that unifies content from multiple services and provides a single entry point to discover relevant and current information.
PERSONALIZED
Multitude of ways to customize the content per user, including user selected news preferences, custom toolbar, department pages — all in multiple languages.
MOBILE ACCESS
Robust mobile experience was necessary for such a global organization. All major features were designed with a mobile first mentality.
Improved search results with robust filtering and surfacing most relevant results based on user profile data
Process
COLLABORATION
Partnered closely with UX partner. We collaborated via whiteboard, notepad, digital sketch and prototype to ensure user goals were met. Weekly check-ins with the client ensured we were in a state of constant sharing and iterating to make sure we were on the right track.
USER TESTING
Conducted in-person user testing with lo-fi prototypes which showed us some flaws in our navigation early on and allowed us to quickly pivot.
TECHNOLOGY
Consulted regularly with Sharepoint developers to ensure our ideas were technically sound.
Customized tool set allowing users can drag and drop their favorite top 10 tools.
Customized preferences for targeted news and event content.
Mobile views did not sacrifice functionality. Mobile first mentality was a key driver in this project from start to finish.
